Jay A. Brett

Jay BrettJAY A. BRETT is a partner/shareholder in the law firm of Sheppard, Brett, Stewart, Hersch & Kinsey, P.A. which has served the residents of Southwest Florida since 1924. His practice consists of estate planning, including trusts, probate and trust administration, real property law, title insurance, mortgage law, and corporate/business law. Mr. Brett has been a member of the firm since 1973. He attended Pennsylvania State University, received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Florida in 1970, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida in 1973.

Jay has served on the 20th Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, serving as its chairman in 1992-93. He also served on the 20th Circuit Bar Grievance Committee, serving as its chairman in 1984. From 1978 to 1982, he served as a Hearing Examiner for the Lee County School Board. Jay currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, Inc. and as a Director of Florida Gulf Bank and Classic Basketball, Inc., which presents the popular "City of Palms Classic" high school basketball tournament. He has also served as an advisory director for First Union National Bank of Florida, and has served as a Director of the YMCA of Lee County. Jay enjoys an "A-V" rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Jay has two daughters, Katie and Alli, and one son, Brian. He enjoys golf, weight training, reading, snow-skiing, and Florida Gator sports.
